About Us
Our Story
It all started with a small newspaper stand in Maynard, MA in 1964 – established by our founder, Bob Anderson. Over the years The Paper Store has responded to what our local communities need and continues to evolve with our customers’ shopping habits – while at the same time, staying true to our brand. Hence, why we remain named “The Paper Store.”
The Paper Store is one of the largest family-owned and operated specialty gift businesses in the country. Today, the Anderson family operates 100 stores throughout the Northeast and also in Florida – as well as a thriving eCommerce business — with over 3,000 employees who make The Paper Store “tick.” Our team works diligently to offer guests a unique shopping experience where they can find a unique gift for any occasion.
Our departments include fashion apparel, accessories, spa, home décor, stationery, jewelry, sports, and more from brands like Vera Bradley, Lilly Pulitzer, Jeep, Life is Good, Vineyard Vines and Pura Vida. We’re always listening for what’s new and important to our customers – and our family of brands continues to grow every day. We are dedicated to providing this connection as part of the seamless, inspirational, and fun experience our guests enjoy in all our stores, online and beyond.
In 2020 The Paper Store (formerly known as The Paper Store, LLC) was sold and a new business entity was formed. The company operates now as TPS Group Holdings, LLC utilizing The Paper Store brand name consumers have grown to recognize. The Anderson family proudly remains in the business driving the strategy, sales and daily execution of the business.

The Future
Signature Stores
The Paper Store’s new ‘Signature Stores’ embody a bold new vision for the brand. These innovative stores are nearly twice the size of the Company’s average store, with 12,000 sq feet dedicated to the latest brands and unique products, spanning fashion, home accents, gourmet food, kids’ toys & games and so much more. From the glowing sconces that welcome consumers throughout the store, to the colorful displays – the Signature Stores feel fresh and boutique-like. The new store format caters to Consumers’ appetite for immersive storytelling moments. The Signature Stores were designed with this in mind, showcasing displays with an aspirational, lifestyle-first approach, and also offering areas that allow customers to engage in hands-on, interactive activities. These include ear piercing services, a children's play area, a whimsical candy station where customers can mix and match their favorite sweets, food tastings, and local community-based charity events. The Paper Store continues to support our communities thru the donation of over 10,000 masks, thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer and other supplies to support those working to keep us all safe and healthy during the pandemic.

Reduce | Reuse | Recycle
At The Paper Store, protecting the environment and reducing our environmental impact is an active part of our daily lives. Across our Store Fleet, Corporate Office, and Distribution Center, we have implemented measures to minimize our environmental impact. We continuously explore new ways to reduce our footprint and positively impact the planet. Initiatives have included:
• In 2021, we implemented a 100% elimination of single-use plastic bags from our Stores. All reusable paper bags in stores now contain 40% post-consumer recycled materials. We have a key focus on increasing the use of reusable paper bags by 2024. • Installed energy-efficient lighting and heating systems across our Store Fleet. • Reduction of corrugated cardboard-based products throughout the company. Reusable totes for store-to-store shipments. Recycling of all cardboard materials at the Corporate Office, Distribution Center and Stores, where available. • Reduction in plastic use by Employees. An initiative started by Tom Anderson, Family Owner & CEO, is to reduce the impact of single-use plastic water bottles company-wide. Through the installation of filtered water systems across our Store Fleet, Corporate Office, and Distribution Center, we actively encourage Employees to utilize non-plastic, refillable methods for water consumption. Consumer-facing testing is now underway by offering free water-bottle refilling stations in stores.
